Ultrassom Phased Array

Phased array ultrasonic is the most advanced technology in the category of non-destructive ultrasonic testing. It provides a higher level of precision than conventional ultrasound.

The key differentiator lies in the ultrasonic transducer installed in the phased array ultrasound system. The transducer uses a special technology where small crystals (ranging from 10 to 256 elements) operate within the same transducer. Each of these crystals is connected to independent circuits capable of controlling the excitation time independently, resulting in a modification of the sonic beam emitted by the array of crystals or the transducer.

Thanks to the characteristics of the phased array transducers, it is possible to inspect the material at various refraction angles in a single scan, as the angle change is done electronically. As a result, inspection speed is significantly improved, especially in welds, where at least two different angles are typically required. Among its advantages, phased array ultrasonic offers higher precision and performance compared to conventional ultrasound, with a low possibility of interpretation errors.
